Today the CISD Tech Dept. saw a demonstration on a new technology, mini-projectors from 3M. Yes, 3M makes more than just sticky notes!
The mini-projector is a hand-held projector. It only has about 15 lumens, which means that it is not very bright.
However, if you project on a small area from a short distance, it does a pretty good job. It is ideal for situations
in which you would normally try to gather a small group of people around a laptop or desktop monitor.
There are two versions: one can connect to an outside device - desktop, laptop, iPad, etc.
With the other version, fiels are loaded directly on to it, and stored in its memory.
It has a 1GB memory, and has an expansion slot for a Mini SD card for additional memory.
While it will not replace a projector in a classroom, it could definitely be useful in small group
classroom or administrative situations.
